Deploying Scality RING in the aaS environment

Pre-requisites

If necessary, install VMware-ovftool-4.4.3 on your Windows jumpbox (reboot required)

The Scality OVA template is located on the shared lab drive (from VM jumpbox): X:\Scality\OVA

Overview

The steps below will deploy a virtualized Scality RING with:

  • 6 nodes
  • Scality endpoint
  • Scality supervisor

Deployment

Launch a Powershell terminal (as Administrator) and use ovftool.exe to deploy the OVA.

Below is example output producing a Scality RING and took ~1 hour to complete.

Thin provision VM disks

Verify all disks are provisioned 'thin' when deployed to shared datastores: thinprovision

Verification

With the OVA deployment complete, a vApp named virt-scality will be deployed. All VMs will be show powered off.

To power on the virtual Scality RING, right click on the vApp and select Power > Power On. Each VM will be automatically powered on.
